We will make everything possible.
Site managers not only coordinate and organise the entire process of a construction project, but also ensure that the construction work is carried out properly. This is done, for example, by documenting the entire construction process. The site manager therefore always has an overview of the construction site.
Tasks of a site manager
A site manager has to perform various tasks. Before the start of construction, he conducts a so-called initial meeting with the site managers of each trade that is newly active on the construction site. He does this not only to coordinate, but also to get to know the internal processes of the individual trades. Because in the end, the site manager is the one who coordinates the various trades working side by side on the construction site. The site manager’s functions also include drawing up a site layout plan in the form of a sketch. Depending on the size and type of the construction site, this may also be developed and prepared by a technical office. In addition to these one-off tasks, which take place at the beginning of construction, the construction manager also performs daily routine tasks. In addition to the documentation of the progress and monitoring the current work, the site manager also serves as the point of contact for any acute and urgent questions. He is not only available to the employees, but also to the client, the construction company and other parties involved. In order to ultimately achieve the best possible construction result, the site manager carries out continuous quality checks during construction. In this way, any errors can be quickly identified and rectified.
Characteristics of a Site Manager
In order to acquire the necessary basic knowledge of civil engineering, a bachelor’s degree in “Civil Engineering”, for example, is useful for the job as a site manager. This can be obtained at universities as well as at technical schools. For a deeper understanding, a postgraduate master’s degree is also an option. In addition to the bureaucratic requirements, practical experience plays a key role for site managers. Internships or student traineeships alongside your studies are therefore also a good option in this context. Soft skills such as coordination ability and stress resistance can also distinguish a site manager. He should also have a certain level of assertiveness. Since the site manager is always in consultation with all parties involved, a confident and professional method of communication is an advantage.
